Taylor Swift sends package to Cleveland Co. teen fan

CLEVELAND COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - "Taylor Swift just sent my daughter a package!"

That's the beginning of the message Joana Palomares sent to WBTV, Wednesday morning. Her daughter, Destiny, is a 16-year-old in Cleveland County. Like millions of teenage girls around the world, Destiny follows Swift on Tumblr. In November, the pop sensation started following Destiny.

"It was unexpected. I didn't think she'd want to follow someone like me because she's a really big idol of mine," Destiny said.

If you know anything about Swift, you know she sometimes sends elaborate, incredible care packages to fans. Taylor's latest surprise gift arrived at Destiny's house in her small town of Grover.

"I was overwhelmed, there was just so much stuff," Destiny said.

A signed guitar was just the beginning of Destiny's delivery. The second box was filled to the brim with personalized parcels, all handpicked by Taylor for Destiny.

"It just makes your entire day better and you just forget about anything that went wrong," Destiny said.

The packages also included hand-written notes from Taylor, explaining why she thought Destiny would enjoy each item.

"It kind of makes me feel important because she told me that I helped her when she was having bad times," Destiny said.

Joana Palomares was blown away by the kindness the celebrity showed her daughter.

"Everything that they're going through, that they post on Twitter and social media, she's actually looking at it. She's actually following them and being apart of their life," Palomares said.

If Taylor is reading this Destiny has a message for her favorite singer.

"Thank you for sending me all these gifts and being there for me in times she didn't necessarily know that she was being there for me," Destiny said.
