New report shows onshore wind is the cheapest energy
British offshore wind is being installed at the same price as gas power plants and at half the price of nuclear plants, shows a new report. However, for this to benefit consumers, the renewable energy should be treated similarly to fossil fuels under the British subsidy system.

Onshore wind has the potential to become de facto subsidy-free in the UK. New wind farms can deliver energy that is just as cheap as new gas power plants and energy which is half the price of the electrons in the Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant, concludes a report undertaken by Arup commissioned by ScottishPower Renewables.
