It’s really funny what kids takeaway from spending a year with you. A student I taught a year ago sent me this message on social media as I just moved out of the country and am preparing to move to China. I used to constantly tell them “books are a gift” basically because we just got new books and I wanted them to take care of them. But I would make a big, dramatic scene with it!

Have a wonderful new life with new hopes and dreams,

As you go on your new journey and start your new chapter,

Don’t forget those who stay as you learn the new names,

I speak for all those that you touched with your warm smile and gentle touch,

I am grateful to you and so must they be,

Since with your loud voice, you helped us down our path,

I also hope you get to read many books since “books are a gift!”

as a very wise woman once said,

So even if it is sad for me that you leave;

I shall wear only a smile as a recall how you joked with us in class,

I hope you find what you are looking for,

What you haven’t found yet,

What you might not know that you have been looking for.

Since life is full of adventures and you haven gotten your full share,

I will miss you Ms.B and I will never forget you,

For you are a wonderful teacher that I don’t plan to forget.
