Tre Boston's contract is bargain for Cardinals

The deal has not been announced as of the publishing of this article, but the Arizona Cardinals have gotten safety Tre Boston on a very team-friendly deal. Such is almost always the case when it comes to signings right before training camp.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Boston’s one-year deal is for only $1.5 million, though he can earn up to double that.

That is a far cry from the long-term deal he sought in the offseason worth at least $8 million per year. However, the market for safeties was not what many hoped it would be, which led Boston to call the Cardinals’ contract offer earlier in the offseason “very, very disrespectful.”

He had a great season last year for the Los Angeles Charger, intercepting five passes.

Now he can hopefully parlay another good year into a big contract a year from now.

Of course, that means the Cardinals will again be looking for another safety next year if he ends up out of the team’s price range.
