RB Travaris Cadet mulling offer from Buffalo Bills

The five-year vet also has offers from the Saints and Jets.

According to a report by Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, veteran running back Travaris Cadet is considering an offer from the Buffalo Bills.

The five-year veteran has mostly been used as a receiver in his professional career, totaling 102 receptions on 139 targets since entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2012. Those receptions went for 840 and seven touchdowns. He only has 26 carries in his NFL career, rushing for 84 yards.

He has played his entire NFL career with the New Orleans Saints, who are also rumored to be in the mix to retain his services. The third team linked to Cadet is the New York Jets, according to Wilson’s tweet from earlier today.

In 2016 with the Saints, he made 40 grabs for 281 yards and had four receiving touchdowns in 15 games.

Cadet played his college ball at Appalachian State University, amassing 1,688 yards rushing and 15 touchdowns on 336 carries over a three-year span. He added 57 receptions for 572 yards and 2 touchdowns. He even played a bit of quarterback for the Mountaineers, going 20-36 for 241 yards with an interception in the 2009 season. Cadet was a quarterback in high school.

With a fair amount of depth at the running back position, it’s difficult to say what role Cadet would have with the Bills. The coaching staff may view him as a third-down back, or possibly even an option as a wide receiver, since Cadet’s 5’11”, 205-pound frame fits well in the mold of a slot receiver. In any case, the athletic Cadet would be an intriguing addition to the mix of athletes already acquired at the offensive skill positions.
