The Titans hit the daily double in free agency on Friday, reaching deals with two top edge rushers in Derrick Morgan and Brian Orakpo.

The hits kept coming as they agreed to terms with five players in all. In just a few hours, the offseason buzz began trending from negative to positive.

Re-signing Morgan, a first-round pick of the Titans in 2010, was a priority. He agreed to a four-year, $30 million contract with $10.5 million guaranteed, according to sources. The base value of the deal is $27 million, but he can make $3 million more through incentives.

Orakpo, a three-time Pro Bowl selection in six seasons with the Redskins, agreed to a four-year contract worth about $32 million, sources said.

"We definitely got better over the last week with the free agent signings. It is a good situation where we have some good pieces to the puzzle, and it's exciting," Morgan said. "I'm tired of being the average or below-average Titans. I think this organization is going in the right direction and I am excited."

Orakpo called the Titans "a great fit."

"I feel like the vibe is there. Even though it was a 2-14 team last year, the chemistry and everything is still there. No one is feeling like this can't be turned around fairly quickly," he said. "The pieces are there and I know this team is going to continue to add. And I'm ready to do my part to help this team win."

As for the Titans' other moves on Friday:

--Tight end Anthony Fasano, released by the Chiefs last month, agreed to a two-year deal. In two seasons with Kansas City he had 48 catches for 426 yards. The 10th-year pro has 253 catches, 2,799 yards and 31 touchdowns overall.

--Versatile defensive lineman Karl Klug, a fifth-round pick of the Titans in 2011, was re-signed to a two-year deal. He's coming off a 31-tackle, two-sack season and has 14.5 career sacks.

--Kicker Ryan Succop was re-signed to a three-year deal averaging $2.4 million per year. Punter Brett Kern and long snapper Beau Brinkley were locked up with long-term contracts earlier in the week.

The Titans have added nine players in the past week, including former Falcons wide receiver Harry Douglas and former Bills safety Da'Norris Searcy.

The wave of signings is just part of the "long process" of reshaping the roster, general manager Ruston Webster said.

"Outside linebacker was a position that we needed to address. Derrick is a true pro and you could see his growth in a new system. Brian has a proven record and adds a different dimension to our group," he said. "Fasano is a quality veteran player who has all-around tight end ability. I thought Succop had a good first season with us and Klug is just a good football player who can help us in a number of areas."

Derrick Morgan was a first-round pick of the Titans in 2010.

Orakpo was a big get. He racked up 40 sacks with the Redskins, including 10 in 2013. He had a career-high 11 sacks as a rookie in 2009, when he was a first-round pick.

He's battled injuries, however. He missed the final nine games last season after suffering a pectoral injury (in a game against the Titans) and suffered two torn pectoral muscles on his left side earlier in his career. But the Titans felt comfortable with where he is physically.

Orakpo made $11.455 million under the franchise tag last season.

"What put it over the edge was these coaches. The staff here is phenomenal. I couldn't miss the opportunity to be coached by these guys and all the Super Bowl-winning coaches I'll be coached by. Coach (Dick) LeBeau, I have so much respect for him," he said. "It's a further opportunity for me to better myself for a team that's on the rise."

Morgan and Orakpo will be the starting outside linebackers in the 3-4 defense, with Morgan on the left and Orakpo on the right. LeBeau, the longtime Steelers defensive coordinator and now Titans assistant head coach, will run the unit along with coordinator Ray Horton.

Morgan, who led the Titans in sacks last season with 6.5, visited the Falcons and Buccaneers and attracted interest from the Cowboys.

"The other teams wanted me to be a 4-3 end, and that is what I was doing," he said. "But I feel like I have a lot of potential at outside linebacker. It's a great scheme Dick LeBeau and Ray Horton are running, and with Orakpo on the other side, it's a big plus as well."

Heading into free agency, the Titans hoped to land two edge rushers, so it's a big development for a team looking to rebound from a miserable season.

There are still holes to fill — free-agent cornerback Perrish Cox and guard John Perry visited on Friday — but the Titans took a big step in rebuilding their roster.
