Uber launches today in Texarkana with discount for first-time users

Ride-hailing service Uber will be available in Texarkana beginning at 1 p.m. today, and riders can get a $15 discount on their first trip.

To take advantage of the discount, use promo code TEXARKANA when ordering a trip via the Uber smartphone app.

Uber launched local service with a publicity event this morning at Texarkana College. Texas Rep. Gary VanDeaver was on hand to take a ceremonial first ride.
