Global Witness has revealed that US President Donald Trump is forging ahead with what appears to be a new business deal in the Dominican Republic. This deal poses a conflict of interest for the President and may expose him to violations of the US Constitution’s Emoluments Clause.

“After a failed 2007 deal in the Dominican Republic, the Trumps are now back in business with their former Dominican partner, the Hazoury family and their company”, said Eryn Schornick, Senior Policy Advisor at Global Witness. “Trump’s company previously sued the Hazourys alleging ‘text book fraud' on such a wide scale.”

Global Witness went undercover in the Dominican Republic to get details about the suspected new Trump project. Posing as a representative to a wealthy investor looking to buy property, the undercover investigator met with senior brokers and sales representatives at the Cap Cana resort – owned by the Hazourys – on the Dominican Republic’s eastern shore.

A sales representative confirmed that the Trumps are going back into business with the Hazourys and stated that Trump Organisation is the developer of a commercial and residential project on the beach at the Cap Cana resort, and has the requisite permits to start building.

A FOREIGN AFFAIR: TRUMP’S DOMINICAN REPUBLIC DEAL

Donald Trump is pursuing what appears to be a new business deal in the Dominican Republic despite pledging no new foreign deals – a deal which may be in violation of the U.S. Constitution

Almost two years after Donald Trump pledged to the American people that he would make no new foreign deals while president, our undercover investigation into the Trump family’s activities in the Dominican Republic reveals that the Trumps may be pursuing a new real estate deal in the country.

This opens the door to corruption and conflicts of interest risks as the President has not fully divested from his business.

In response to our investigation, the Trump Organization now deny that they are involved in any current project in the Dominican Republic.

Rush, in his prime. I think there was a fire in his mouth. Someone should have told him.

Rush Limbaugh Detained With Viagra
BY JARRETT MURPHY

UPDATED ON: JULY 16, 2007 / 2:44 PM / CBS/AP

Rush Limbaugh could see a deal with prosecutors in a long-running prescription fraud case collapse after authorities found a bottle of Viagra in his bag at Palm Beach International Airport. The prescription was not in his name.
Limbaugh was detained for more than three hours Monday at the airport after returning from a vacation in the Dominican Republic. Customs officials found the Viagra in his luggage but his name was not on the prescription, said Paul Miller, a spokesman for the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

Miller said the alleged violation could be a second-degree misdemeanor. The sheriff's office was investigating and will soon turn the case over to the state attorney's office, which had no immediate comment Tuesday.

. . .

Limbaugh also must submit to random drug tests and continue treatment for his admitted addiction to painkillers.
Limbaugh's doctor had prescribed the Viagra, but it was "labeled as being issued to the physician rather than Mr. Limbaugh for privacy purposes," Roy Black, Limbaugh's attorney, said in a statement.

Michael Flynn was at a beachside resort in the Dominican Republic, a stretch of sand and sun that he and his wife had visited for years, when he took a few moments out of their post-election vacation for a call with the Russian ambassador to the United States.

As a veteran intelligence officer, Flynn must have known that a call with a Russian official in Washington would be intercepted by the U.S. government, pored over by FBI analysts and possibly even shared with the White House.

But six weeks later, Flynn was forced out of his job as national security adviser to President Trump over what was said in that conversation and Flynn’s inability to be truthful about it with then-Vice President-elect Mike Pence and other officials now in senior positions at the White House.

... and other senior transition officials. Even Judge Sullivan stated such in his reprimand of Flynn. Is this something we know to be factual both on its face and substantively? I'm sure there is evidence that Flynn mouthed words to these people (VP included) but do we know for certain that the words were not physically spoken as part of a "cover our tracks" effort? We have all seen movies where people who know they are being surveilled say one thing and write another. I find it hard to believe that veep was out of the loop on all this and didn't know exactly what was happening.

Under investigation or having been sued on multiple fronts, including one related to the Emolument's Clause, he just keeps on keeping on. I wonder if he has at some point suffered some real brain damage because of a stroke.
