Former Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling is urging people to help find a life-saving donor to help a sick boy.

Sterling took to his Facebook page to issue the emotional plea to help Damary Dawkins, 12, who has been fighting acute lymphoblastic leukaemia since he was nine.

The Mirror reports that doctors have confirmed that the youngster's last hope is through stem cell treatment as he battles the rare cancer of the blood and bone marrow.

Damary's search for a donor has so far been unsuccessful but Sterling is hoping his involvement will lead to someone coming forward.

"Guys this is very important we need to help this kid," he posted - alongside a picture of Damary.

The youngster is seen lying in his hospital bed holding a signed Crystal Palace shirt, as he gives a thumbs up.

"If you are of Afro-Caribbean descent please sign up to be a donor, you could be a match for Damary or someone else that needs your help."
