ESPN's Nick Wagoner recently analyzed the situations of two San Francisco 49ers players set to become free agents next year, revealing that each might face very different paths. Brandon Aiyuk has yet to rejoin his teammates for organized team activities, which shouldn't come as a surprise. As the team's leading receiver last season, he is seeking a contract extension and is unlikely to hit the practice field again until a lucrative deal is agreed upon. It's hardly surprising news, but NFL Network's Mike Garafolo confirmed what many anticipated: San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk is unlikely to report to Santa Clara for organized team activities (OTAs), which commenced yesterday. The team's first practice open to the media will be held this afternoon. Garafolo points out that the two sides appear to remain far apart in the negotiation process, with Aiyuk seeking a long-term deal that makes him one of the highest-paid receivers in the NFL. "So don't expect to see Aiyuk around for anything that's voluntary," Garafolo shared on NFL Network's "The Insiders" show. "And let's see about the mandatory stuff as well with him because you know he wants this done. He doesn't want to have to play on the last

Report: Amon-Ra St. Brown's contract the 'benchmark' in talks between 49ers and Brandon Aiyuk

By David Bonilla
May 24

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk was seen celebrating after the Detroit Lions signed their star wideout, Amon-Ra St. Brown, to a lucrative four-year contract extension. This led many to speculate that Aiyuk, awaiting his own deal, views St. Brown's contract as a benchmark that strengthens his position at the negotiating table. According to a new report from ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, that speculation may very well be accurate. Aiyuk is likely seeking a deal similar to, if not exceeding, the one St. Brown received. "I was told the benchmark here is Amon-Ra St. Brown," Fowler said during "NFL Live,"
